Set in over five acres of landscaped gardens and with 200
yards of privately owned lake frontage, Wildwood offers the
perfect retreat for those staying in the Rotorua area.
Only
15 minutes from Rotorua airport, and twenty minutes from
Rotorua city, you would be forgiven for thinking that you
are hours from civilisation. Wildwood is situated on Lake
Rotoehu , one of Rotorua’s prettiest lakes, offering
very sheltered waters, excellent trout fishing and total
privacy. No other houses or properties can be seen from anywhere
on the entire estate.
The lodge was totally rebuilt for the 2006 season and can
accommodate six guests, with two suites in the main lodge
and an adjacent guest house. Both the lodge and the guest
house are of contemporary design and have been purpose built
to an exceptionally high standard. Both offer wonderful lake
and bush views and are situated within thirty meters of the
water. All have private walk-in baggage and dressing rooms,
individually controllable central heating, large balconies
and superb en suites with oversize showers. Linen is high
thread count Italian cotton and the general ambience of the
rooms is what one would expect in five star lodging.
The lodge itself is especially well appointed. It has a
large open plan design and with expansive decking, provides
a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel, with the lake almost blending
as an extension of the house. There is an extensive library,
theatre and a number of separate areas where guests can relax
and enjoy the solitude of the wonderful setting. The lodge
has central heating, air conditioning and a large open fire
for the cooler months. Broadband wireless internet access
is available in every room, including the guest house.
All meals are served in the main lodge dining area and
superb New Zealand fare is the order of the day. Fresh seasonal
produce from our own garden is incorporated where possible
and guests dietary preferences are catered for. A 1,000 bottle
wine cellar further complements the evening meal.
The property has a helipad for those who wish to heli fish,
take in a tour of White Island , an active volcano or a number
of other sites in this historic and thermally active part
of the country. We are strategically situated within fifty
minutes of Whakatane with its wonderful beaches and indisputably
the yellow fin tuna capital of New Zealand . For trout fishermen,
over thirty rivers and streams can be accessed by vehicle
on day trips. Six other closely situated lakes also offer
an abundance of trout fishing. A golf course, thermal pools
and wonderful historic bush walks are only three minutes
away.
Whilst being situated in the centre of all these wonderful
activities, it is set close to State Highway 30 offering
main road access, yet total seclusion once you enter the
gates.
