The Central North Island of New Zealand offers the angler
unrivalled fly fishing opportunities. There is an amazing
variety of water to enjoy, from small clear mountain streams
offering sight fishing to relatively large rivers where you
will fish blind. Both Browns and Rainbows are present in most
waters with Rainbows predominating. All fish are wild and
the hard fighting Rainbows in particular, can test the skills
of even the best angler.
Although a few of the rivers have some short winter closeouts
this is truly a year round fishery. Nymph fishing tends to
be the most productive, but the warmer summer months from
January to April offer excellent Dry Fly fishing.

Approximately thirty rivers and streams in the Rotorua/Taupo
area can be accessed from Rotorua on day excursions and you
can expect to catch fish ranging from 2lb to 6lb with the
odd larger one. We have access to private land as well as
some excellent public waterways and our clients will often
not see another angler all day.
We normally collect our clients around 8am and return them
to their accommodation around 6pm or a little later. A superb
riverside lunch and refreshments are provided on all day excursions
and we will issue your fishing licence.

For those who wish to spend a little more time with us we
offer fully inclusive packages from two to five days utilising
a delightful cottage we have in the Ruakituri valley, and
situated only a short distance from the legendary Ruakituri
river. This river, situated in one of the most remote parts
of the country consistently produces both Rainbows and Browns
well in excess of 5lb with double figure fish not uncommon.
A number of other smaller streams in the area will provide
you with challenging sight fishing opportunities.
You will encounter some of the most stunning scenery this
country has to offer as you travel through the Te Urewera
forest park with it's ancient stands of untouched native trees
and the magnificence of Lake Waikaremoana in it's midst. This
area is steeped in Maori history and offers the true New Zealand
wilderness experience.
Our packages include superb catering, generous pre dinner
drinks and New Zealand wines with dinner.
We can handle groups of up to four anglers on these packages.

We have some superb wilderness rivers offering true trophy
fishing which can only be accessed by helicopter. Weather
conditions can alter longstanding arrangements so one should
be prepared to revert to a 4WD trip if flying conditions are
unsuitable on the day.
A
twenty minute helicopter ride can take you to areas that often
take three days to reach on foot. This is an ideal option
for those on a tight schedule who wish to experience true
wilderness fishing.
Your
guide will carry all appropriate safety equipment including
Emergency Locator Beacon and Flares.
Whether
you have a day or a week allow us to make some recommendations
to suit your time frame.
